Parents and guardians of children enrolled in the Secaucus Schools are urged to take the School Climate Survey, which will give us valuable information on how our programs are working. No personal information will be collected and there is no way to link any data to your children. The survey should take about 10 minutes to complete.

We request that you complete a survey for each school your child or children attend by 6/6/16.

Autism Awareness
Clarendon Teachers and Students Raise Money for Autism Awareness
Clarendon School is observing Autism Awareness with various activities on Fridays during April. Ms. Janet Colamarino and Ms. Lucia Abello  have organized many ways for all to participate and reach out to our community at the same time.

Some of these fundraising activities will support Spectrum Works, a non-profit screen printing company in Secaucus that hires individuals with autism. Many of Secaucus High School’s students with autism have had an opportunity to intern and work there.

Spectrum Works designed and printed shirts for the staff and students of Clarendon School to purchase.  The shirts will be worn for a dress down day every Friday in April.  All of the proceeds - over $2,000 - was donated to Spectrum Works.

Other fundraising activities throughout the month include a pretzel and blue Gatorade sale and a blue Italian Ice sale which is made by a local ice cream shop.  With the purchase of a blue ice, each student adds a puzzle piece to a bulletin board completing a giant puzzle.  The proceeds from these activities are donated to Autism NJ.

March Multiplication Madness
Clarendon School 4th, 5th, and 6th graders spent the month of March improving their multiplication skills. Each day, at the beginning of Math class, students took a timed multiplication test. The tests started off easy with the 2's, 3's, and so on all the way up to the twelve times tables. Five minute Fridays created a special twist. Students were presented with one hundred problems to answer in five minutes. Weekly tallies were taken to determine how classes were doing. By the end of the month scores proved that the students had improved their multiplication skills. The winning homerooms are; in 4th Grade Ms. Malcolm's Class, the 5th Grade winner was Mrs.Schlemm's Class, and finally, Mrs. Smith-Bonin's Class was the winner for 6th Grade. The students enjoyed the challenge while brushing up on the math skills.
